Hold functionality is not working in a SharePoint site RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have set up a hold on a SharePoint site in the 'e-discovery' area in the Security and Compliance center but I could delete a document from the site manually. Can anyone please explain why the hold functionality is not working?

    Thanks

  • Hi Surajit09,

How do you set up a hold on a SharePoint site in the 'e-discovery' area in the Security and compliance center?

E-Discovery Center in SharePoint 2013 for your reference:

  • Hi Lisa, Thank for your reply.

I have setup the hold in Office 365 (SharePoint online) not on-prem!! Do you know how it works in SharePoint online?

    Thanks
    Surajit

  • Hi Surajit09,

    Activate Hold site feature.

Navigate to site settings->Holds->create a hold.

Navigate to library->choose a document->compliance details->add/remove from hold, then you can add a document to a hold.

The documents cannot be deleted now.

Create a hold to suspend documents or items(which is similar in SharePoint online):
