SharePoint Online Modern Sites Quick Links and Relative URLs RRS feed

  • Question

  • We've run into an issue using a Modern SharePoint Online site. We have created a "template" to use for specific purposes that is being copied by AvePoint to create a new site.

The left navigation updates without an issue. The content of the page utilizes the Quick Links Modern Web Part.. and is linking to both list and document libraries. The links in the Quick Links Web Part are put in via URL ... which in our case we want to change when the new site is created from that template.

First Question: Has anyone found a way to use relative linking in the Quick Links web part that links to the same site for both lists and libraries.

Second Question: If this is not possible we've been looking for a way to automate the process of changing those links after the site is recreated without success.  Anyone have any thoughts around this?

    thanks in advance!

  • Hi Mr_Goonie,

Per my test, it seems that we could only use Relative URLs  for libraries in the quick links web part.

When you add links, choose "Site" location. The library you choose would use Relative URLs. However we cannot choose lists .

To automate change those links, there is no OOB ways to achieve this. You need to use some custom scripts.

  • Thanks Michael ... we were trying to find a pattern to use to script this change without success. Any thoughts to that?

  • Hi Mr_Goonie,

I'm not familiar with the js. I think we could get all the hyperlinks(tag<a>) in the quick links webparts, then loop through them and change the link.
