SharePoint Online Create Site - Stuck at "Creating site [Site Name]" RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, we are attempting to create new sites within our SharePoint Online test environment and are not having luck creating sites and it is slowing down the project significantly.

All sites were created through the SPO Admin Portal manually (click, click, click) and its just sitting there, doing nothing and its getting frustrating.  Why is this happening?  These are blank sites.  They should be created in a matter of seconds.  What the heck is Microsoft doing???  How is this efficient?

Its been sitting here now for 4 HOURS!!!!

Anyone else run into this frustrating conundrum?

  • Hmmm, it is kind of weird i would say create a Support Request from SharePoint Online Admin Center they should get back to you with in 24 hours.

Below article for how to raise a request:

  • Hi JL-4,

You could create the site collection in the classic sharepoint admin center to check if the site collection can be created successfully.

And if you want to create modern site, you could click SharePoint in the app launcher and click “Create site” in the top left corner in the page.

If the issue still exists, you could submit a service request in the office 365 admin center.
