E-mail created in Office 365 and not on-premise - problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi!

If I have created an e-mail account directly in Office 365 (from a synchronised AD account) the e-mail account is not available on the on-premise Exchange server (we're in a hybrid mode at the moment). Is there a way to get that e-mail account synchronised with the on-premise server (so that it exist on both)? Thankful for help!

  • Hi,

If you want to create an Office 365 Mailbox in a Hybrid Configuration

You can refer to the methods provided in this article:

    https://www.agileit.com/news/office-365-mailbox-hybrid-configuration/

The reason of the ways to create mailbox mentioned in the article:

It’s possible to simply create the Office 365 account in Active Directory, wait for AD Connect to sync the user to Office 365 and license the account. But creating new mailboxes this way never fills in the correct Exchange attributes on the user’s AD account, which causes them to not display in the local EAC.

  • You only sync the users not to sync user's mailbox from on-premise exchange server.

After migrate your mailbox from exchange server, you need to initialize your outlook with Office 365 account.

  • Hi,

If you already have user accounts in the cloud which correspond to already existing user objects in the on-premises directory, and Directory Synchronization has not yet been configured between them. It is recommended to use hard match to meet your requirements.

For detailed steps to finish hard match, you can refer to the following articles:

"MigrationPermanentException: Cannot find a recipient that has mailbox GUID " error message when you try to move a mailbox in an Exchange hybrid deployment
