Antimalware exclusion on DPM Client RRS feed

  • Question

  • Where is the official documentation of the settings to set on a DPM Client. Because I can see that when the DPMRA.exe service is running, when running a Consistency check to a DPM server. the Antimalware processers MsMpEng.exe is reading the file before the DPM replica process.

And the Consistency check checking 1mil files takes 4 hours.

  • Hello!

I'm afraid there is no new official documentation for DPM 2016 or DPM 2019 for the antivirus exclusions, the same exclusions as previously still apply.

Run antivirus software on the DPM server
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/previous-versions/system-center/system-center-2012-R2/hh757911(v=sc.12)

    DPM Server

    DPM installation folders:

    • %Program Files%\Microsoft System Center\DPM\DPM\XSD
    • %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft System Center\DPM\DPM\Temp\MTA
    • %Program Files%\Microsoft System Center\DPM\bin

    Processes

The following process should be excluded from real-time scanning:

    • DPMRA.exe
    • CSC.exe

If the DPM servers has the MARS agent installed and pushing data to Azure, exclude the following folders:

    • %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Azure Recovery Agent\bin
    • %ProgramFiles%\Microsoft Azure Recovery Services Agent\Scratch

The following processes must be excluded from real-time scanning:

    • CBEngine.exe
    • CSC.exe

    Best regards,
    Leon

  • Performance is better, and decreases the chance of locked files/folders that may interfere with backups.
