Can I take MIM and AD object level backup by 2019 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have backup solution DPM 2019. I know I can take backup of MIM SQL DB but

    1. Can I take object level backup of MIM so in case if someone deletes any object from MIM, i can restore it from backup ?

    2. If I restore the MIM object from backup will SID, GUID be same?

    3. Can I take AD backup of using DPM?

    4. Will I be able to restore AD at object level for example someone delete any object from AD then can I restore that user or group or computer ONLY?

    5. If I restore from point 4, will GUID and SID be same?

  • Hi,

Unfortunately it isn't possible to backup at object level.

    2. If I restore the MIM object from backup will SID, GUID be same?

You can only restore a full database, but every object should have the same SIDs and GUIDs.

    3. Can I take AD backup of using DPM?

    Yes.

    4. Will I be able to restore AD at object level for example someone delete any object from AD then can I restore that user or group or computer ONLY?

No, no item-level restore is possible.

    5. If I restore from point 4, will GUID and SID be same?

You will basically restore an entire Active Directory server, the GUIDs and SIDs will be the same.

    Best regards,
    Leon
