unable to access shared calendars RRS feed

  • Question

  • Users are having problems accessing shared calendars using Outlook 2016.

User A shares her calendar with User B and User C by clicking on the calendar in Outlook and giving user B Reviewer Role and User C publishing editor.

User B goes to File -> Open/Export -> Other users folder and types user name of User A and selects calendar as a folder type

User C goes to File -> Open/Export -> Other users folder and types user name of User A and selects calendar as a folder type

Both users C & B get calendar of User A added, but they are showing No Connection right next o the name of user A

All users are on 16.0.13001.20266 version of outlook.

This old article suggests that users can't edit calendar with Outlook 2016, but we can't even view.

We would greatly appreciate the comments if anyone knows why.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I use the same Outlook version in my test environment, and the calendar permission works well in my test.

Here are some suggestions for you:

    1. In general, users will receive an email to notice that "You're invited to share this calendar". Please try to log into OWA, accept the calendar and view it. Check if you can check the shared calendar from OWA:

    2. By default, all users in the organization can check Free/Busy information with each other. Please check if other users can see user A calendar with the default permission. Except user A, please test to see other users' calendar as well.

    3. Try to re-add the permission with commands:

    Get-MailboxFolderPermission username:\Calendar Remove-MailboxFolderPermission username:\Calendar -User username Add-MailboxFolderPermission username:\Calendar -User username -AccessRights <permission>

You can check this for more information about the cmdlet: Add-MailboxFolderPermission.

  • Hi Lydia,

Looks like I miss-spoke, after further investigation we have a few of Office 2016 (16.0.13001.20266) and many Office 2016 (16.0.4266.1001) installs.

Additionally, the problem is only showing up on the systems with Office 2016 (16.0.4266.1001)

    Thanks

  • Since the shared calendar can be checked with other Outlook version, the configuration for the permission and mailbox should works normally, and your issue may be related to the Outlook client side.

It's suggested to install the latest update and use the latest build, some bugs and performance can be fix with them.
