Linux desktop and SSO with Office 365 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are planning to deploy AADConnect with PTA and Seamless SSO, but we have user using only Linux desktop.

These desktop need to be on Linux and are join to AD. They have access to Office 365 mailbox with Firefox.

Microsoft say that PTA and Seamless SSO is supported for Windows and MacOS, but do you know if there is a solution to have also SSO working on Linux ?

    Thanks,

    T.

  • Thanks Kelvin,

But do you know exactly what is the technical issue for SSO with Linux integrated in AD ?

    Thanks,

    Hi,

The SSO features not support with Linux is the product architecture by design. There's no other solution or workaround to meet your requirement.

    Thanks for your understanding.

  • Hi,

I am afraid that the single sign-on feature of Azure Active Directory isn't available for Linux based OS.

    Thanks for your understanding.

  • Hi Kelvin,

    Thanks for your answer.

Yes it's not officially supported by Microsoft, but this can work with Linux ?

We can integrated Linux in AD, with Kerberos 5 support and we can use Chrome and Mozilla on Linux.

    Does anybody try this before?

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

I understand that Web browsers work on Linux, official documents also intend that integrating Linux in AD. However, the single sign-on feature not work with Linux.

    Thanks for your understanding.

  • Sorry, but i didn't find the new question asked yesterday in another thread, about Linux and PTA, without SSO.

I think that PTA works with all browser and OS. Can you confirm, or there's any behaviour ?

    Thanks.

  • Hi,

Seamless SSO is combined with either the Password Hash Synchronization or Pass-through Authentication sign-in methods, thus PTA also unsupported with Linux OS.

  • So only password hash synch is supported with Linux Desktop for O365 ?

The Kerberos ticket for AD joined Linux Desktop isn't supported for PTA ? If you have more details or a Microsoft article about that?

    Thanks Kelvin for you feedback!
