  • Jim is correct. Direct migration from Notes to Exchange Online not available today. You will have to use a two hop process to do this.

    1) Migrate the data from Notes to a staging Exchange server on-premise, using the (free) Transporter tools.

    2) Use the (free) migration tools provided with Exchange Online to migrate this data from the staging Exchange server to Exchange Online.

Partners like Pointbridge have attempted this with some success.

  • Hello

Kernel for Lotus Notes to Outlook is a lotus notes to exchange migration software which helps to perform online migraton. It helps in both situations, where you can migrate from lotus notes to outlook/exchange or domino to exchange. You can get the software from here: Lotus Notes to Outlook Conversion Software

To get more details about the online migration process refer to the product animated demos: http://www.nucleustechnologies.com/Animated_Demo_Single_File_NSF_Conversion.html

and for domino to exchange process: http://www.dominotoexchange.com

    Hope it Helps

  • Hi,
Well thanks for the quick reply but you did not understand my question. I don't want to migrate to exchange server. All i want is to move all my existing domino/notes accounts to Exchange Online.

  • You will need to stage the migration in two parts as mentioned above: first migrate Notes to an interim AD forest with Exchange 2007 using either the full Transporter suite or a third-party migration tool like Quest or Binary Tree sells, then use the Online Directory Sync and Migration tools to migrate the new objects and data up to Exchange Online.

  • Just checking to see if you have made the migration. I have been working on a migration as well and have had success!  A few quirks and learning curves but I currently have a coexistance occuring between Lotus Notes, Exchange, and Microsoft Exchange Online.

  • Ben,

We completed the migration in October using Notes Migrator for Exchange as an intermediary step.  Quest is in the process up updating their tool to interact more directly with the hosted Exchange environment in BPOS, so there will be more than a couple ways to perform this.

    Hi Gaurav,

We have just finished working with a client in the US on a Lotus Notes to Exchange Online Migration.  We have used a product called binary tree along with manual scripts that need to be run every night for each mailbox.  There is a definite effort involved depending on the size of your organization and the number of mailboxes, size of the upload pipe, etc.  Generally you pull your mailboxes from Lotus and then upload them to Exchange Online.

We have kept this low cost by using a blended team of onshore and offshore resources.  There is a human element involved with such a migration as there needs to be an expanded call centre because Exchange is very different to Lotus.  We also needed a case by case management and resolution of mailboxes which have failed migration.

Feel free to contact me if you would like to know more information.

    Thanks

  • You can use either Quest's Notes Migrator for Exchange or Binary Tree's CMT Universal (aka CMT for Exchange) to perform a Notes-to-Exchange migration and then the MSOL tools to push data up to the hosted Exchange servers in a second tier.

The Directory Synchronization of on-premise AD is probably the most challenging piece, but the approach really depends on how many mailboxes, rooms, mail-DBs, that you have and the amount of data.

  • You can migrate using BinaryTree tool CMT for Exchange: http://www.binarytree.com/products/cmtucs.aspx to MSOL If you are already using Notes/Domino 6.5, 7.0, 8.5, i f not you must upgrade your 4,6 R5, to Version 6.5

  • Hi,

as everybody said, it is not possible to migrate directly from Domino to BPOS. You have to use a third party tool. We provide a solution that does not require an exchange server.

Have a look to our website : http://www.refresh-it-solutions.com/en/

  • I'm not sure if you are still looking, but Quest's Notes Migrator for Exchange migrates directly to BPOS without a local Exchange server. It could handle either the 200 gb or 50 gb scenario.
