  • Hi quation,

In Office 2016 Modern authentication is ON by default. If you turn it off (enableADAL=0) then it should work fine.

    Try this:

    HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity\EnableADAL  --> D-WORD=0

  • Hi ,

I have enabled the DAL key to '0'.but it does not have any effect.

The newly created work-file is still ready only .Word is not running in between.

    Thanks,

  • Hi quation,

Try to reboot the machine once you make the changes in registry and then check.

  • HI sekhar,

whether you open the new created word file in the Windows explorer or document library?

Try to open the file though document library and open in the browser, then click "Open in Word", check if it prompt "open document" dialog as below:

Try to go to Word->File->Options->Trust Center->Trust Center Settings->Protected View->uncheck the relevant checkboxes in this tab, check if the issue exists.

Besides, whether all office 2016 files only open with read-only mode?

If all the files open with read only mode, refer to the article below to check the Current Channel Version:

  • Hi All,

User created on new document library and he is opened in internet explorer. where he is creating new empty document and when he try to open it its giving the error that "giving error document is locked read only "

all other way its working fine..but he wants to like this like create empty document into document library which is alreay opened in internet explorer.

Environment is Sharepoint 2010 site and MS office is 2016.

if its Sharepoint 2010 with MS office 2010,its working fine without any issues.

    Thanks,
    Sekhar.

  • Hi Sekhar,

Whether you use another browser to check if the issue exists?

What’s the version of IE and Office 2016? Make sure you use the same 32-bit or 64-bit version of IE and Office.

    Best regards,

    Grace Wang

  • The content type might have (somehow) been set to read-only.  In the library settings, try activating Content types.  This will activate a new section in the config where you can access the Content type you're trying to create.  Access this, checked the advanced settings and see the read only radio button is checked to yes.
