Application updates fail RRS feed

  • Question

  • After applying updates to SharePoint, it fails.

    Most databases have been updated, but when checking stsadm.exe -o localupgradestatus

    1. Microsoft.SharePoint.Administration.SPIisWebSite Status: Unable to update;
    2. Microsoft.SharePoint.SPWeb status: update required;

    The error is logged:

    ERROR Exception: The system cannot find the path specified. 00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000 03/02/2019 11: 01: 15.06 PSCONFIG (0x5820) 0x5E38 SharePoint Foundation Upgrade SPUpgradeSession an58c; ERROR in System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry.Bind (Boolean throwIfFail) in System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry.Bind () in System.DirectoryServices.DirectoryEntry.get_AdsObject () in System.DirectoryServices.PropertyValueCollection.PopulateList () in System.DirectoryServices.PropertyValueCollection. .ctor (DirectoryEntry entry, String propertyName) in System.DirectoryServices.PropertyCollection.get_Item (String propertyName) in Microsoft. • Yes, if you mean the SharePoint Products Configuration Wizard.

  • Hi Nabi05,

    Have you deleted any web applications from SharePoint UI ever? I ever met this issue because deleted web application was hanging on IIS.

    Please compare the web applications between SharePoint UI and IIS. If there are some web applications which are in IIS and not SharePoint UI, please delete them and their application pool. After finishing, re-run SharePoint Products Configuration Wizards again.

    A similar blog for your reference:

  • Hi Nabi05,

    Please go to CA->Upgrade and migration->Review database status, check if there are any databases whose status are not "No action required".

    If yes, please use "Upgrade-SPContentDatabase" to upgrade it.

    Also, to analyse further, please provide some screenshots about your WebApplicationList.aspx, IIS sites and application pools. Before you provide these screenshots, please erase your privacy information.

    And when checking stsadm.exe -o localupgradestatus, it should have a summary like the below, please also provide it.

    Thanks,

    Wendy
