SharePoint | Online | New feature | "No Versioning" missing at Versioning settings RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Currently, in Office 365, Microsoft has updated versioning settings on all OneDrive for Business and SharePoint Online team site document libraries, including both group-connected team sites and team sites not connected to an Office 365 Group.

When we open the versioning settings on a OneDrive for Business or SharePoint Online team site document library, we will see "No versioning" disappears at Versioning settings as the blow:

There is no option to disable versioning via UI. It is by design.

Of course, if you want to opt out of the versioning setting update, you can use the following SharePoint Online Management Shell cmdlet to achieve it:

    Command: Get-SPOTenant/Set-SPOTenant

    Parameter: EnableMinimumVersionRequirement

Value: True - default value, opt-in to the versioning change.

              False - opt out.

    An example:

After you run the cmdlet to change the value, check if the value is set correctly by running Get-SPOTenant cmdlet.

And you may need to wait several minutes for the change in SharePoint UI.

Note: the update will not affect SharePoint Online Communication sites, which still use the old settings as SharePoint 2013/2016/2019 Server.
