Visual Studio Enterprise Vs Visual Studio Professional

    Question

  • We are trying to develop some custom addins in our sharepoint online tenant

we have two different versions of visual studio available enterprise and professional

enterprise is 10 times pricier than professional

i was wondering if professional version is good enough for all sharepoint development needs

we are planning to develop some webparts, addins, master pages etc..Please help us choose the best one.

  • Professional is enough for developing SharePoint Application. Major different between enterprise and Professionals is missing some tools like testing tools, mobile  and some gaming softwares.

  • If you are an individual developer Visual Studio community edition also works which is free. And if you are thinking about SharePoint framework you can do with Visual Studio Code also which is a free and light version also.
