Workflow app step permissions account RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

when a workflow needs to use a app step, the workflows runs the app step in context of the user who published the workflow.

but what if we want to use a service account for workflows requiring app steps, instead of a real user, and we dont want to give the service account permissions all over sharepoint... is it possible to have a account that can access sharepoint behind, run workflows, that only has read/write for the list that the workflows runs on, not the entire site. like if we could point at the app step in the workflow and tell it to runas.

  • Hi Michael,

You can create a new account and set it as the site collection administrator for your site collection, then use the account to create SharePoint Designer workflows.

    Thanks,

    Wendy
