Shared Excel Workbook RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good Morning

We have had issues with a excel workbook which is shared between 5 other people within the office. We have been locked out by a user not in the Control log, the workbook just crashing when prompted to save, only able to open in read only, dropping it self from the server. The recent issue was amending the colour and saving would make Excel not respond, so we have recreated the workbook reducing the amount of data on it to see if this solves our issues, which it has so far. My concern is that it will happen again due to us all having different versions of Mircosoft Office, would this be a key factor to the problems?

By this, do you mean the file is always locked by a particular user?
Does this issue only affect the specific workbook?

Please have a check in the shared folder to see if there is a temp lock file like ~$filename.xlsx or whatever file extension it was saved in. Delete the temp file if there is to see if the issue can be fixed.

It is also suggested to try turning off the preview pane on the problematic user's computer to see if there will be any improvement.

    Best regards,
