Getting Error in Hybrid Configuration Wizard at the very End to complete Hybrid Configuration RRS feed

  • Question

  • Recently We have configured Minimal Hybrid Configuration with Exchange Server 2016 CU15. After completing the Minimal hybrid configuration, we have removed Minimal hybrid Configuration by Remove-hybridconfiguration from on-prem EMS. Then we have deleted the metadata from ADSI edit from domain controller below,

    CN=Hybrid Configuration,CN=Hybrid Configuration,CN=DOMAIN,

    CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=domain

    When we re-run the Hybrid Configuration Wizard to configure Full Hybrid Configuration, we are getting below error,

    Error-Screenshot

    If anyone encountered this issue already, please reply at the earliest possible

  • That doesn't sound supported. I would open a ticket with Microsoft support or restore that deleted object and see if you can re-run the Wizard.

  • Hi,

    Agree with Andy, generally we just need to re-run the HCW to change your minimal hybrid to full hybrid, no need to delete the configuration.

    Please try restoring the deleted objects and try again.

    Here is also a related thread discussed this issue: Minimal Hybrid to Full Hybrid?

    You can switch to full no problem. Just run the hybrid configuration wizard again. This will allow free/busy to work while you migrate.

  • Thanks Andy and Joyce for the useful information .

    As the objects was deleted, HCW was giving that error. But after creating The deleted object manually into ADSI edit which is given below,

    In order to be able to create another Hybrid configuration (very unlikely but I needed to do this in order to separate my on-premises mailboxes to two independent O365 tenants) you need to open ADSIEdit and recreate the Hybrid Configuration container (right-click ->New Object ->container and name it Hybrid Configuration). After that the HCW should be able to complete successfully.
