Sharepoint document library Version control limit RRS feed

  • Total number of version is set to 15 in share point document library.

    Is there a way i could restore a document prior to 956.0 Version or version before 09/11/2019 ?

  • According to saantil, with Microsoft, in Sharepoint versions explained:

    "If a list or library limits the number of major versions, the earliest versions are deleted when the limit is reached. If your limits the number of versions that it stores, the oldest versions are permanently deleted when the limit is reached. They are not sent to the Recycle Bin."

    I tested this and was able to confirm it.  Creating a document in a new document library, and configuring version history to track major versions, I found that after document versions reached the configured limit, older versions disappeared from the version history list and were not found in either the first or second stage recycle bins.  On the other hand, I found that if specific versions were deleted manually from the version history list, these specific deleted versions did appear in first-stage recycle bin.
