Create Audience with rules outside of User Profile? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've been asked to create some new Audiences, which use a mix of User Profile data as well as some that is associated with the user account from outside of the User Profile: eg: Business Unit is joined to the User Profile from a separate list generated by HR.

Can an Audience rules include data from outside the User Profile? Or is the Audience totally dependent on what is present in the User Profile?

  • Hi scogordo,

Yes, the audience rules can include the data from outside of the user profile.

    Quoted from the article:

In Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010, audience rules can be based on the following information:

    1. A user profile.

    2. Membership in an identity management system, for example, Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) or Microsoft Business Connectivity Services.

    3. An organization's reporting structure.

    Manage audiences (SharePoint Server 2010).
