Adobe Acrobat X and Sharepoint 2010 - Acrobat cannot access the network error RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hello,

We're having trouble with sharepoint 2010 and Adobe Acrobat X. We are able to open/check out pdf documents from all of our document libraries just fine. The problem appears when we try to save or modify the pdf's in some of the document libraries - Adobe Acrobat comes back with the error:

"Acrobat cannot access the network. Please verify your computer's network connection and try again."

We have 2 document libraries that are affected by this, but we're able to open/edit/checkin pdfs fine to other document libraries. A google search for this error yields very few results. The only ones I saw were related to sites in other languages (these sites are all English). Adobe acrobat on our windows 7 client PC's is at the latest version, 10.1.3. I have attached a screenshot below.

So far we've been unable to indentify a difference in the document libraries that work and the ones that don't. Some workflows were set up in the document libraries that were giving errors, but we still get the errors after disabling the workflows. Has anyone else run into this? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks,

  • This problem only occurs on sites we migrated from SP 2007 - when we create new libraries and rebuild everything including the workflow - the PDF's will work properly.

    This issue resolved for us.

  • Hi,

I am having exactly the same issues as you describe above, except that the fault appears on all document libraries containg pdf files. I am using adobe acrobat X.  The pdf files check out ok, but when they are modified and saved the error message "Acrobat cannot access the network. Please.......  Have you found a solution to this problem?

  • Hi Bill,

Like I said above, we re-created the workflows manually in SP2010 and it started working properly. I would recommend that you make sure office and Acrobat are fully up to date, but that's all the advice I have for you. Good luck.
