Visio 2013 locking up RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have Visio 2013 and in the last few days it keeps locking up when working. If I am modifying a file (any file not one specific) it allows me to click on one item and then freezes. The only way to get it to do anything including closing the program is to select another program and then come back. This happens every time. Not sure what has changed that would cause this to happen as it has been running fine for the last few years.

    Thanks for any help.

  • Hi,

Is there any error code or message when Visio 2013 freezes?

First make sure your application and driver are up-to-date. If updating your drivers doesn’t resolve the issue, we can try this method to check if it’s helpful by clicking File > Options > Advanced > Disable hardware graphics acceleration.

Please try to disable all application add-ins(Click File > Options > Trust Center > Trust Center Settings > Add-ins > check the option "Disable all Application Add-ins") and disable all third-party applications (such as Antivirus software).

If this issue persists, please collect the event viewer logs and upload it to OneDrive. I’ll analyze this issue in detail as soon as getting information.

In addition, you can follow the steps in the article to repair your Visio. You can also uninstall your Visio and reinstall it to have a check.

If you have any updates, feel free to post back to let us know.

    Best Regards,

    Herb

  • I had the same problem with Visio 2013 and I tried the following but nothing worked.

    • disable hardware graphics acceleration
    • disable application add-ins
    • repair Visio
    • reinstall Visio

I narrowed the problem down to Windows 10 1903. I rolled back the PC to Windows 10 1809 and the problem disappeared.
