Active directory 2003 to 2008 migration

    Question

  • We are migrating 2003 AD to 2008 AD. Domain name is not changed during migration, it's just AD upgrade from 2003 to 2008.

What will be the implication to our SharePoint 2010 in our 2003 AD? when we migrate to 2008 AD.

We are still in planning phase looking for possible migration pitfalls.

  • the Active Directory migration should not impact your SharePoint environment. SharePoint does not require a specific Active Directory version and does not make any changes to the schema of Active Directory.

  • Hi, Ni0

I'm curious if you successfully migrated from AD 2003 to AD 2008, and especially if there were any problems with your SharePoint Portal Services 2003.

My company is currently in the planning phase for migrating from Active Directory 2003 to Active Directory 2008 R2, and our SharePoint Portal Server 2003 is running on Windows Server 2003.

From what I can find, it seems that there should be no impact on SharePoint.  For us, we are keeping the same single domain name (companyname.com), and are not making any schema changes other than anything that may occurs as part of the migration itself.  We also have a Microsoft ISA Server 2000.

Please let me know what your experience was like.

    Thanks,

    Bob
