Shared mailbox conversion date. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello-

Is there a way to determine the date a user mailbox has been converted to a shared mailbox? This is for Exchange 2013 on prem. I can get the user mailbox creation date but can't find anything regarding the shared mailbox.

  • Hi Eric,

With my research, there's not a direct method to review the shared mailbox conversion date. As you mentioned , audit logging could search the mailbox convert action date, but it needs to be enabled in advance, and the audit period is 90 days.

  • The admin audit log report will tell you when the config changes were made and by whom.

If you wanna run it from the EAC go to:

Compliance Management > Auditing > run the admin audit log report...

  • Okay, thanks, I guess this can't be revealed from a powershell cmdlet?

  • Oh, if you want a quick cmdlet to check creation date of the Shared Mailbox, run:

Get-Mailbox "Shared Mailbox Name" | fl whenmailboxcreated

  • It looks like the audit log only has 90 days worth of info.

  • I was thinking of the same thing, but that will tell me when the user mailbox was created. But it won't tell me when it was converted to a shared mailbox. For example if a user mailbox was created in 2015 and converted in 2017, that command will result in 2015.
