Outlook on the web (OWA) Offline mode fail

    Question

  • I"m seeing an issue where Exchange 2016 is not allowing offline access to be configured for OWA. This worked properly in CU5, but in CU8 when I click the option to enable offline access, it just flickers and is not enabled instead of further prompts as there should be. I've also been testing CU6 and 7 with the same results.

The video here shows the behavior: http://byronwright.blogspot.ca/2018/01/video-of-outlook-on-web-offline-mode.html

    Some points from my testing:

    • occurs for IE, Edge, Firefox, and Chrome
    • Window 10 clients and also IE on Windows Server 2016
    • Updating Exchange server to .NET Framework 4.7.1 had no impact
    • Windows Server 2016 on Exchange server is fully updated
    • Using a trusted certificate from Let's Encrypt
    • Offline access enabled in a web access policy (instead of just default) has no effect.

Has anyone else seen this behavior?

  • Haven't seen that before. Have you cleared the cache and cookie etc for the browsers?

  • Have you tried and recycle the OWA app pool?

  • Hi Manu,

Engineering is confirming this as a bug?

I just need to clarify that.

    Thanks!
