"Start this workflow to approve publishing a major version" disabled RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    I copied OOTB Publishing Approval Workflow and published it to Content Type "Document" . While associating it to Document content type within "Document" library, "Start this workflow to approve publishing a major version of an item." is disabled.

    I followed the steps given this link but it is not working.

    Thanks,

  • Hi

    Try this

    etaData>

        <InitiationType>Manual;#OnNewItem;#OnItemUpdate;#OnMajorCheckIn

        </InitiationType>

    </MetaData>

  • Hi,

    I did the same but it is not working. Do i need to publish after saving? Even If i pubish after making changes, it overrites the manual change in XML. I also added  StartOnPublish="true" but its not working.

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

    Did you check this

    The Start this workflow to approve publishing a major version of an item option
    is available only if support for major and minor versioning is enabled for
    the library and if the selected workflow template that you selected can be
    used for content approval.

  • Hi Avni,

    According to your description, my understanding is that the Start this workflow to approve publishing a major version was disabled when creating the workflow associated with the document library.

    Firstly, please make sure that the Content Approval and Create major and minor (draft) versions
     are enabled in Version settings in the document library.

    For troubleshooting, I recommend to create a new copy of the Publishing Approval Workflow to see if the issue still occurs.

    To narrow the issue scope, please also test with another document library and compare the results.
