Crash dump anaysis and symbol store. Wrong Symbols. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Since I can't access the Internet directly from the server where the crush dump got generated I moved the file to my Win10 desktop and installed WinDbg on the machine. I'm settin the symbol path to SRV*https://msdl.microsoft.com/download/symbols as Microsoft now recommends and open the dump file. For some reason however I get information that the symbols are wrong.

    FAILURE_BUCKET_ID:  WRONG_SYMBOLS_X64_9600.19321.amd64fre.winblue_ltsb_escrow.190313-1806_TIMESTAMP_190314-031433_5C89C719_nt_wrong_symbols!5C89C71977F000

Just wondering would WinDbg by default getting the symbols for the OS I run it on not based on the dump file?

  • Hi,

Please try to use WinDbg Preview to see if you can open the dump file.

We can download it from Microsoft Store.

    Hope it could be helpful.
