Office 2016 + Sharepoint 2013 = Unable to sign-in on-premises

    Question

  • Scenario as described in the title, with Office 2016 and Sharepoint 2013 (on-premises solution only), I'm unable to sign in with the AD account and I'm assuming that's the reason why check-in / saving to on-premises Sharepoint 2013 isn't working. With Office 2013, everything works just fine. Is there new policies or something that can mess things up? Is there a log file somewhere to see what's going on?

The error message shown when trying to sign-in through right hand corner of Office 2016 products: "Sorry, we are having some temporary server issues."

The error message shown when trying to check-in a modified document opened from on-premises Sharepoint 2016 using Office 2016 Word/Excel (for some reason, Powerpoint works fine while doing this?!): "Upload failed. We're sorry this didn't work. Try saving again later and if that still doesn't work, click Save a copy." ...and the resolving through Office upload center doesn't get the issue solved either.

With Office 2013, everything works just fine.
