Office 365 C2R UpdateUrl HTTP

    Question

  • Hi,

based on this article, I would like to configure a IIS web server to store Office365 (2016) C2R updates instead of a file server.

I create a GPO (Office2016.admx) to configure the update url for Office : http://MyServer/Office365.

I configure on IIS a repository pointing to Office365 C2R source files.

I verified the access of the files with my browser.

When I launch the update process (in Outlook, File menu, Office Account, Update) I have an error.

I also would like to know where the parameter of the URL from my GPO is store because I don't find it in HKLM:Software/MS/Office/16/C2R/Config.

    Thanks

  • Hi,

I find the problem on IIS, I needed to add the Mime Type '.dat' as 'application/octet-stream'.

I previously see that .cab files were correctly downloaded...

    Thanks for your help.

  • Hi,

Which error did you get? As far as I know, you can set UpdatePath by using the Update Path policy setting. You can find this policy setting under Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Microsoft Office 2016 (Machine)\Updates.

For more detailed info, please see the "Updates element attributes and values" session.

  • Hi,

Based on the error code: 30180-28, this might be caused by the source site blocked by firewall, please check the following site if it was blocked.

  • According to the Office2016 GP settings workbook, the settings is stored here:

    HKLM\software\policies\microsoft\office\16.0\common\officeupdate!updatepath

Have you confirmed that the http URI is accessible by Domain Computers? Or, did you allow Anonymous?

(The C2R Updating process, executes as a scheduled task, so you would need to grant permissions to access the location, to your computer accounts (if in a Domain), or, Anonymous, I think.

Don [doesn't work for MSFT, and they're probably glad about that ;]
