  • Question

  • Hello all,

I am trying to use parameters in a SQL query for an external data connection. However the Parameter button grayed out in data connection options box.

I have used ? in the query definition.

What might I be doing wrong?

    Many thanks,

  • Hi Emi,

I'm landed here searching for the same issue.

I've followed all the instructions but all test are conducting to the same result: Parameters box greyed out

The query works perfectly with dynamic parameters but I'm unable to use a cell as an parameter.

    I'm running Win 7 and Office 2016

  • Hi Maurizio,

Here is small hack that may assist you:

The author of that page recommends adding a where clause to the Command Text field of the Connection Properties dialogue box. When you do so, like magic, the parameters box pops up!
