    how to change default data files. outlook will not allow me to make a change to the default data file. iu want to make another file the default

    What the type of mail account you use?

    Please go to File > Account setting > Data file > Select your account > Set as Default.

    tony, this is the problem. Outlook wont let me set a different file as default.

    When I try to "Remove" the original Outlook Data File I get the message:

    The default file cannot be removed because it is your default delivery location. After you have selected a defferent default delivery location your current file can be removed

    The fact is that my default delivery location id in the file I want to set as default file and as far as delivery is concerned it works fine. So for all practical purposes the original Outlook Data File is superfluous but for some reason outlook wont let me select it another file as default
