Office 2019 Pro Plus install RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have to roll out 80 new PCs with Windows 10 and Office Pro Plus 2019. As I build the prototype machine I'm hitting a wall trying to install the latest Office 2019 Pro Plus suite.

    My institution has all the necessary licensing, and I have access to MVLS. I was able to install 2019 Pro Plus on my own system, where it replaced Office 2016 PP, but installing to a new Windows 10 desktop in sysprep audit mode isn't working for me.

    ODT and this config file worked fine on my domain-joined PC:

    <Configuration>
      <Add SourcePath="\\ourservershares\MSOffice2019PP" OfficeClientEdition="64" Channel="PerpetualVL2019">
          <Product ID="ProPlus2019Volume"  PIDKEY="xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx" >
             <Language ID="en-us" />
          </Product>
          <Product ID="ProofingTools">
            <Language ID="en-us" />
          </Product>
      </Add>
      <RemoveMSI All="True" />
      <Display Level="None" AcceptEULA="TRUE" />
    </Configuration>

    Tried the same process after mapping the install source share to the non-domain joined prototype system but keep getting the error that it cannot find install source.

    My goal is for my cloned target machines, after boot and running through OOBE, to each have a keyed but unactivated full install of Office. Is this going to be possible? Do I have to build some kind of offline install package first?

    TIA,

  • Hi David,

    I checked your .xml configuration file for deploying Office 2019. If you set SourcePath=“\\ourservershares\MSOffice2019PP”, Office will be downloaded to and then installed from \\ourservershares\MSOffice2019PP. This address is a shared location in a domain environment. The Office installer in these target devices under a non-domain environment can't find the installation file and report errors .

    You also said that you tried to share the directory mapping to these devices, but it seems that these devices still cannot get the installation files. So you need to check if these devices can access this location normally and have permission to read the installation files.

    In addition, if you do not want to activate the device after installation, you need to remove the corresponding MAK key in the configuration file: PIDKEY="xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx".

    For your question, I suggest that you look for a location to store Office 2019 installation files that these non-domain target clients can access, or get installation files from CDN and  install Office from a local source online. (this may take up bandwidth). For more information, read Deploy Office 2019 (for IT Pros).

    If you have any question or update, please feel free to let me know.

    Best Regards,
    Herb Gu
