Archiving content RRS feed

  • Question

  • I would like to be able to use content deployment to archive old data from one site to another.  Effectively I want to take everything where the scheduled publishing dates are past and move it to another site with identical structure to the original site.

    Any thoughts?

  • If you have MOSS, you can use content deployment on your central administration page, and chose content deployment Path and Jobs to copy one site to other Site.

You can create a content deployment job to make a interval between data migration

  • That's fine for site level copies of all data, but I want to copy only items which are past their scheduling dates.  We have lists with hundreds of items and only a few are current, I wanted to automatically take everything that is no longer showing and have it moved to another site.

  • Don't do that. You will hit 5000 threshold very soon and would not be able to access your content. Better to archive published items somewhere externally using CSOM.
