Powershell Add-PSSnapin produces "No snap-ins have been registered for Windows Powershell version 4" RRS feed

  • Question

  • I run Powershell with farm installation credentials. When I try to register SharePoint snapins with add-pssnapin microsoft.sharepoint.powershell I got message "No snap-ins have been registered for Windows Powershell version 4". What can be the problem and how to solve that?

  • Make sure you are running 64-bit PowerShell and not 32-bit.

  • Hi,

Please make sure that you run the PowerShell on a SharePoint Server machine.

The PowerShell script below can get a list of snap-ins that are registered on your computer:

    get-pssnapin –registered

  • Thank you !

I was struggling with this for a while till I saw your post and realised I was running my PSSession with 32bit configuration and issue resolved when I changed it to 64 bit.

    Thanks,

    Kishor
