Office 2016/Outlook 2007 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Recently installed Office 2016 and we are using Outlook 2007. The problem we are having is we cannot open any ms attachment unless we first save it to the desk top, then it will open when we double click on it. How do we get around this problem. People are going back to the old version of Office.

  • Hi,

Did you get any error message when try to open attachments directly in Outlook 2016?

Does this issue happen to all users or just certain ones?

Does this issue happen with certain type of attachments or just certain file types?

Please first try to update your Office 2016 to the latest version and then check if this issue continues.

In addition, we may try to clean out the Outlook Secure Temp folder to see if it helps. To do this, please follow:

    1. Exit Outlook and open Registry Editor.

    2. Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Outlook\Security

    3. Open the OutlookSecureTempFolder registry key from above location.

    4. Copy the path from the key and paste it to Explorer, press Enter.

    5. Clear everything in the Outlook Secure Temp folder and then test the issue again.

Please let me know the result.
