Outlook leaving messages in windows live after downloading them to outlook 2007 RRS feed

  • Question

  • I continue to have to delete mail in windows live.  Last time it was a whole years worth.  If it happens again, it would be easier to delete my account and start a new one.

  • Hi,

How did you configure your live account in Outlook?

We could use the Microsoft Office Outlook Hotmail Connector to get a better user experience. See:

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-in/outlook-help/microsoft-office-outlook-hotmail-connector-overview-HA010222518.aspx

If you are using an IMAP account, you will not get an option to remove the messages on the server.

Once you delete a message in Outlook or the webmail, the changes will reflect in both the places.

Only when you use a POP3 account, you'll be able to use the function “Leave a copy of the message on server”.

To access this function in Outlook 2007:

Go to Tools > Account settings > Select the POP account > More Settings > Advanced.

In the "Advanced" tab, uncheck the Leave a copy of messages on the server checkbox. Or you could set a time to remove the message from server.

More details about the POP message delivery settings, see:
