Mystery macro run time error

    Question

  • I am running Word 2007 with some company macros. The macros are designed to put letterhead or footer type information on the page, nothing crazy, and they have been running fine for a long time. Recently however any time I try and launch one of these Add-Ins I get a Visual Basic run time error '5151' that says it is unable to read the file and it may be corrupted.

I have since replaced the macros with new copies, verified the paths are correct in the templates configuration, and various repairs and reboots. Nothing has worked so far and I'm at a loss as what else to check.

  • Hi,

Runtime error 5151 usually occurs when a DLL file is missing, or not registered on your computer.

Since Runtime error 5151 is related to missing DLL files, you can re-register the registry list to fix Runtime error 5151 issue. To re-register the file, please do this:

    1. Click Start-Run
    2. Type in regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\dllfile Download Repair tools
