Lync Server 2013 With OCS 2007R2 RRS feed

  • Question

  • HI

OCS 2007 R2 is already installed in our environment. We use ocs only for chat, file sharing, and screen sharing purpose only.

Now i want to deploye Lync server 2013 in existing enviroment. Can you plz suggest me the better solution.

Should i go for the co-existence or should i go for new deployment of the server with new pools and topology.

    Which is the best.

    Thanks

  • It's best typically to set up the 2013 infrastructure, merge the topologies, migrate the users, then decommission OCS. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj205375.aspx

  • Hi,

Lync Server 2013 supports only Side-by-side migration. In side-by-side migration, Lync Server 2013 is deployed alongside an existing Office Communications Server 2007 R2 deployment, and then you transfer operations to the new servers and move users to Lync Server 2013. This method requires additional server platforms, including hardware and software, during migration, and system names and pool names are different in the new configuration. If it becomes necessary to roll back to the previous version, you can shift operations back to the previous servers.

For the details about migration from OCS 2007 R2 to Lync Server 2013, you can refer to the link Anthony provided.
