Folders in the "Favorites" section change order after opening Outlook RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • I have been using Outlook 2010 for a few weeks now, and I love many of the new features.  This post is simply to alert the developer team to an odd behavior I have observed in Outlook 2010.

I have added a few folders to the "Favorites" section.  The folders are (in the order I have placed them in the Favorites section): All Rcmd Messages, Inbox, Sent Items.  However, each time I close Outlook and re-open it, the sort order has changed.  "Inbox" always gets moved to the bottom.  I assume the intended behavior of the Favorites section is that the order of the folders would be remembered from session to session.

Thanks to the developer team for all the hard work you have obviously put into this new version of Outlook.  I can't wait to get my hands on the final release!

  • Yes, the order should stay as you sorted it.  I assume the order they revert to is the orginial order? The fact that it revents to the same order every time you restart outlook usually indicates the navigation pane file is corrupt.  Try restarting outlook using the /resetnavpane switch.

  • Hi Diane,

Thanks so much.  Your solution solved my problem, too.  After opening Outlook with the switch you mentioned, my navigation pane was reset.  Then, I re-configured my favorites again as I wanted them to appear.  Now, when I open Outlook the folders in the Favorite section "remember" their correct order.
