  • Hi,

Can I send an email to a distribution group in a SharePoint workflow? How easy is this to setup as I am new to SharePoint.

    Many thanks

  • Hi,

As Priti Aray mentioned, we can send email to the Distribution List using SharePoint 2010 workflow as the SharePoint 2013 workflow contains new security enhancement, which validates the users within the Distribution List using REST services validation.

Meanwhile, check if the "Require that all senders are authenticated" is unchecked under mail delivery restrictions in exchange server. This option will prevent SharePoint to send an email to Distribution List.

    1. Go to Exchange server > Exchange Management Console > Recipient Configuration > Distribution group.

    2. Right-click on the problem group and choose properties.

    3. On the Mail Flow Settings tab, double click on Message Delivery Restrictions.

    4. Uncheck the check box "Require that all senders are authenticated".
