No or lets say yes, if you use GPP registry and manipulate the ScanCodeMap of the Keyboard.

You need to manipulate the keyboard scancode to deactivate "Print Screen Button". than you need to delete the Snipping tool and what about "Win+S" from OneNote and this 1000 of other tools that can do a screencapture? What about my Smartphone camera photografing the monitor?

Whats is your reason to do so?

Let´s assume there is a complete senseless and stupid client requirement. Will you do it, just because the tell you to do so?

THEY need to give you a real argument to do it "we want to" is not a sufficient argument. It does not give any security. What about people, that can "remember" what they read? Is it the right solution only to employ blind people? And what about this people that can remember what they here? ... :-)

Sorry, but disable printscreen makes no sense to me.

  • Hi,

In order to disable Print Screen via Group Policy, I suggest we could deploy a registry key file via GPP or script to achieve the target. If you want to deploy the registry key via script, please create a .reg file containing :

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Keyboard Layout]

     "Scancode Map"=hex:00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,04,00,00,00,2a,e0,37,e0,00,00,37,e0,

    00,00,54,00,00,00,00,00

If you want to deploy the registry key via GPP, please refer to the following article.

  • Hi Andy ,

Thanks for reply and it worked , But one more thing here , User must have admin rights on machine

So the query is Can we lock that particular key from group policy.

    Thanks
