IM/Presence Routing During OCS Migration RRS feed

  • Question

  • During a migration, say from OCS 2007 R2 to Lync 2013, how does the Presence/IM routing work between the different pools? As I understand it, the AD attribute msRTCSIP-PrimaryHomeServer tells where the user is homed. We also know that the user has a registrar pool, so is that it really? OCS just looks the user up in AD, finds these values, and sends the traffic to the appropriate FE server?

  • Through the migration form OCS 2007R2 to Lync 2013 a backwardcompatible part will be installed.

All Server can communicate which each other and also the clients. You should only have installed the latest client updates for all OCS clients.

Each user has a sip uri and the presence info will be send to all clients. It doesn't matter which FE server is used.

The presence info will be send as sip notify to the server and the server will send this as an update to all users which have added this users the contact list.
