Error in workflow RRS feed

  • Question

  • The Filter workflow worked fine, but at one point it failed:

the item in the workflow could not be Updated, perhaps because one or more columns for this item must contain data of a different type.

When you try to overwrite a workflow through SharePoint Designer when you publish, you receive an error:

(370, 15) the Field cannot be of type void)

  • It seems you have a mandatory field in your list that you are not providing via the workflow. The workflow is failing because the mandatory field is null. Review your fields and make sure you have no unused fields set as mandatory.

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

Could you share what data type the field you are trying to set has? Also if it is only one field you are trying to update, do you get the same error using the "Set field value" action?

Please provide some screenshots for this issue if possible.

  • best things do to at this stage is to take out the fields and add then one at a time to see which field is giving the error. Do this via SharePoint Designer.
