Dialog windows for open document is missing RRS feed

  • Question

  • we have just changed from SharePoint 2010 to SharePont 2016 server. We find a problem. in SharePoint 2010 if we open a document from SharePoint, user get at first a dialog windows to ask if the user want to open it with read only or edit. In SharePoint 2016 the user with Office 2010 get always this dialog, but the user with Office 2016 don't get this dialog anymore. Document will be opened directly with read only. For Office file the user can change to edit model later in document directly. But for PDF file the user cannot do it for editing. We need the dialog again before document be opened. How can I do it like in SharePoint 2010 and Office 2010?

  • Hi,

Office 2016 does not provide such integrated function in SharePoint, so if you want to have the dialog then you need to install Office 2010 instead.

  • Hi,

You can configure Adobe Acrobat to integrate with SharePoint for opening and editing PDF files.

    http://blog.bonzai-intranet.com/analysthq/2015/01/checkout-and-open-pdf-files-from-sharepoint-document-libraries/

Or you can open SharePoint library in explorer and then you can edit PDF files there.

    Best Regards,

    Victoria
