Long-time entering ECP with error: Event ID 4 - System.Web.HttpException (0x80004005): Request timed out. RRS feed

  • This problem happens from time to time and I do not find the dependence when it may happen again.

    I try to enter ECP with my AD login and password. I see the loading ECP starting page with logon form about 5-10 minutes and then it shows "System.Web.HttpException (0x80004005): Request timed out.". Then I reload the page and it gives me access to ECP settings 1-2 minutes later.

    I also tried to enter ECP with different browsers in 2-3 tabs at the same time when I noticed that the entering is problematic. Other administrators sometimes also have this problem.

    Could you describe about the topology of your organization and where do you try to login ECP?

    Does there exist intermediate equipment such as F5 in your organization?

    Does there exist antivirus on your Exchange server?

    I would suggest you try to login ECP from your Exchange server with "https://localhost/ecp/?ExchClientVer=15".

    If them doesn't exist delay, I would suggest you bypass your intermediate equipment or disable firewall temporarily, then try to login ECP from your computer and check whether is this phenomenon gone.

    I and my colleague try to login from our work PCs.

    There is only Kaspersky Security 9.0 for Microsoft Exchange Servers on my Exchange server.

    Login ECP from my Exchange server with "https://localhost/ecp/?ExchClientVer=15" is successful today. As well as from my work PC.

    This problem appears not very often, and I do not find the dependences why it repeats from time to time. For example, I had no problem last two months, but it happened again yesterday. Sometimes it appears several times per week. And I enter ECP almost every day. I suppose that it is necessary to increase some timeouts, but I do not know how and which ones.

    Based on your description, I would suggest you monitor it for some time.

    If this phenomenon occurs next time, you can take those steps to narrow down it and check whether is it caused by the communication between your computer and Exchange server.
