Azure Access Control Deprecation for SharePoint Add-in

    Question

  • Hi - understand from article: https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/office/blogs/impact-of-azure-access-control-deprecation-for-sharepoint-add-ins/

ACS is deprecated but there is no impact to SharePoint add-in registrations done through appregnew.aspx etc.

For new developed SharePoint add-ins, should we continue to use this mechanism for authentication? Or should we move to "new" mechanisms: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/develop/active-directory-acs-migration

    Thanks in advance!

  • You would continue using the existing method. Those endpoints were wrapped into AAD away from ACS. This is why no work needs to be done on your part to make this change with SharePoint Addins.
