Default Search functionality(find an item) in a List/Library RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have SharePoint list created for our project requirement in SharePoint online. The default search doesn't searches the recent items which have been created. Also the search results are not accurate. For ex. if we search for a title "Test 4". It searches other than this text. It displays all results which is having text as "Test" but not exact "Test 4". Please help us on this issue. Also can anybody tell me that what is the current configured frequency for crawling latest content and display on the search results ?

  • Hello Smruthi,

Search is not displaying recent items in the result because it takes time to crawl first. It also depends upon your crawl settings.

Search is not displaying exact match for this issue, ensure Managed Property used in comparison has the Complete Matching property checked in its configuration. please find the below steps to verify.

    1. Verify that the user account that is performing this procedure is an administrator for the Search service application.
    2. In Central Administration, in the Application Management section, click Manage service applications.
      Click the Search service application.
    3. On the Search Administration page, in the Quick Launch, under Queries and Results, click Search Schema.
    4. On the Managed Properties page, you see an overview of all the managed properties, the settings on the managed properties and the crawled properties they are mapped to. To view crawled properties, click Crawled Properties. To view crawled property categories, click Categories.
