  • Hi Anthony,

For the error message you met when modify description on calendar list, please go to other list and modify the description, check whether the results are same.

If so, any modification is a write operation to the database, it seems a database issue. Please try the following steps to narrow down this issue:
    1. Go to the SQL Server, check whether you can enter the content database property page.
    2. Check the SQL Database size and Database Space available.
    3. Other common issue is that there is less space on the drive.

For the error message on the event viewer, please check the AAM, it seems that http://serspshk.combacn.com was not added, add the url http://serspshk.combacn.com in the intranet zone and then do an iisreset, the event id 8214 will be gone.

    Thanks,
    Qiao

  • are you using WSS 3.0 with inbuilt SQL instance? If yes, check if the db size has reached 4 GB. The inbuild db has a limit of 4 GB and once it is reached, all the operations will fail with the above error. Check if you are able to upload documents or perform some other tasks which will add data on the site. If not, then its a SQL issue mentioned above. Else, try to check in Event viewer and SharePoint logs for SharePoint and SQL related errors to figure out the exact issue.

  • Hi Amol,

I am running on the full version of SQL, so the 4GB limitation should not be a problem to me.

The result of running DBCC SQLPERF(logspace):

I looked at the event viewer and found some errors.

The description for Event ID ( 8214 ) in Source ( Windows SharePoint Services 3 ) cannot be found. The local computer may not have the necessary registry information or message DLL files to display messages from a remote computer. You may be able to use the /AUXSOURCE= flag to retrieve this description; see Help and Support for details. The following information is part of the event: A request was made for a URL, http://serspshk.combacn.com, which has not been configured in Alternate Access Mappings.  Some links may point to the Alternate Access URL for the default zone, http://serspshk.  Review the Alternate Access mappings for this Web application at http://serspshk:7564/_admin/AlternateUrlCollections.aspx and consider adding http://serspshk.combacn.com as a Public Alternate Access URL if it will be used frequently.  Help on this error: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=114854.

But I still have no idea how to resolve this problem.

    Regards,

    Anthony

  • Hi ANthony,

Try saving the calender as a template then use it to create a new calender.

Try changing the description in that to verify if that helps you out.
