Old Servers in BackCompat Site RRS feed

  • Question

  • Doing a migration from OCS 2007 R2 to Lync 2013 for a customer and when we merged the BackCompat Site into the Lync topology, it brought in maybe a dozen or more old servers that no longer exist. I can only assume that they were still in the OCS 2007 SQL database - perhaps they were not removed correctly from the environment. Anyway, these old servers now exist in the toplogy, is there any way to remove them safely? Do we just need to wait for the migration to complete and then when we remove the BackCompat site, those servers will go away?

  • Hi Vegas577,

Welcome to post in our forum.

Based on your description, you want to migrate OCS 07 R2 to Lync server 2013, the following document describes the migration steps, please refer to
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj205375(v=ocs.15).aspx

For removing the old servers in the topology, you could run the Remove Deployment Wizard in Topology Builder, then publish the finalized topology by using Lync Server Management Shell. After this, verify that replication is complete by using Lync Server Management Shell. Then, remove local component files on each server by using the Deployment Wizard, then publish a final, empty topology using the FinalizeUninstall parameter of Publish-CsTopology cmdlet, for details, please refer to
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj205300(v=ocs.15).aspx

Hope this reply is helpful to you.
