Access denied for visitor for the Site but not for the Subsites RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

    I'm facing a problem on Sharepoint 2010.

As a visitor, i can't access the default page that I have modified.

I have a feature receiver that changes the default page to a page that i have created in a list with a list instance. So when you connect to the site http://server you are redirected to http://server/list/welcome.aspx
The welcome.aspxpage refers to a custom master page.
I can acces to the default.aspx and all other pages of the site.
    Any help?

I have a subsite that i imported with its own welcome page like http://server/subsite/list/welcome.aspx
As a visitor again, I can acces to all the subsite...

Error "Acces denied" and when i look in the adress bar, i see that it can't access the list in which the welcome.aspx page is...

    Thanks in advance

    I fount the issue.
My custom masterpage on the site, called a user control. A visitor didn't have privileges to access a list and execute the query in the usercontrol.
I use SPContext .Current .Site .SystemAccount .UserToken to have elevated privilege.

    Regards,

  • Hello,

Please ensure that the Visitors have appropriate permission to the list in which the welcome.aspx page resides. There would be chance of that your sub site have totally unique permission and Visitors have access to page items in the sub site list but not to the list within the parent site.

    Thanks & Regards.

  • Hi Tigers,

Sometimes this can be caused by permissions to an artefact such as an image on the page which a user does not have permissions to view. It's often quite useful to see if Fiddler (http://www.fiddler2.com/fiddler2/) can help you determine the files which a user does not have permission to.

Also, if you are struggling with granular permissions there are various 3rd party tools, such as DeliverPoint from Lightning Tools, the company I work for, which helps find where the fined tuned permissions might be causing you issues (plus a lot more!) http://www.lightningtools.com/sharepoint-2010-permissions-management.aspx ,  there are other tools available so if this is something you are after then do some investigation into the best option to suit yourself.

    Regards
