Receive Connector Broken? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have been told by one of our program suppliers that my exchange server is not configured correctly to accept mail from their program. I have no ideal what is wrong. I have sent a e-mail from the iseries to myself and this is what I see in the receive connector log  called iseries. I also send to a gmail account and they accept the mail. So i have tested it both externally and internally I say it works.

  • What exactly does that mean? " not configured correctly to accept mail from their program."

Did they explain what problem they are seeing? Any NDRs they can share? What is the exact issue and failure?

  • Hi,

As Andy asked above, more information will be helpful to troubleshooting.

And according to your description, the 'iseries' can successfully send messages to your gmail account but not your exchange account?

What's the configuration of your receive connector?

You can read this official document to learn more about the receive connectors in Exchange 2010

  •  Thank you for your response. What we are trying to do is send gas bills to customers. I can take a file from the iseries send it to the smtp server on the iseries and e-mail it to anyone anywhere. The smtp server on the iseries relays the mail and exchange accepts it and sends it.  But this process they set up simply is not sending mail. I checked with their tech support and the response was your exchange server is not configured correctly to relay mail. The recieve connector called iseries is configured to accept anonymous connections from a single ip address (the iseries ip). It works for me. When I look at the log entry I have posted I see nothing wrong.  Am I missing something?  I checked rate control settings on the connector called iseries and it is unlimited there are only 147 gas bills that are e-mailed. Max message size 35MB. So it is my understanding even if they send all of them at one time the connector would accept them. The people who I am working with are experienced iseries programmers who have in the past been very helpful and professional so I can only assume they are correct. What I am asking is there anything unusual in the log entry I have posted. I received the e-mail. I would like a second opinion before I log another ticket and send the log to the programmers I do not want to waste their time on a problem that belongs to me.

I think they have to prove you are rejecting it, so its on them for now. HAve them produce SMTP logging or a NDR.
