Lync 2010 : Presence Unknown RRS feed

  • Hi All,

    I have this issue where one of our users status is "Presence Unknown" every time they search it by Name, but appears online when search by email address. Any solution on this issue?

  • Have you checked that the contact card of the user shows the correct SIP address?

  • Hi,

    1. Did the SIP domain of that user is changed recently?

    2. Did you check whether you have that user listed in your outlook contact list?

    3. By design, Lync will look in the Outlook Personal Information Store first for the user being searched for.  If it finds a Contact Card or Contact Object with that users name Lync will try to use it by sending a Presence Request to the SIP Address in the IM field.  In this case Lync sees the Contact Card and checks the IM Address field and tries to get the presence for that user. as the SIP domain not matching, it does not show the correct presence information. 5. in that case remove that user from outlook contact list and re-add it with correct details. 4. Is that user from same organization or a federated external user?

  • You should activate the trace for this user and analyze the sip traffic with the snooper.exe from the debugging tools to see that the user receive notifications about the presence or which error happened.
